Kodak Ektra - Release Date, Prices, Where To Buy From

Kodak Ektra

British smartphone fans looking for a bit more power when it comes to their photo skills can now get their hands on the new Kodak Extra.

The first ever smartphone released by the iconic camera maker is available for UK fans to try and buy as early as Kodak looks to drum up excitement for its launch.

First revealed back in October and set to go on sale later this month, the Ektra is Kodak’s first launch into the mobile device market.

The Ektra, named after the company's iconic rangefinder camera from the 1940s, can be found at the company’s Kodakery pop-up shop at 70 Berwick Street, Soho.

The store, which opens today and is there all week, offers the Ektra to purchase early for UK users ahead of a wider European launch tomorrow.

The Ektra, which was built by British device manufacturer Bullitt, which has previously made phones for the likes of JCB and the Ministry of Sound, will cost £449.

Unsurprisingly, the Ektra packs in a hugely powerful camera, with the rear of the device dominated by a DSLR-esque camera lens which protrudes from the back, made up of a 21 megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor.

This is packed full of top-line features including optical image stabilisation and autofocus, 4K video capture and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and HDR Imaging.

There's even a Super 8 video recorder for those looking for a bit of retro flair.

The Ektra also includes a dedicated shutter button on the top joining a 13MP front lens, alongside a digital "Scene Selection Dial" that gives access to a number of different shooting modes.

Inside, there’s a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be boosted up to 128GB more using a MicroSD card.

And to show off all your pics, there's a 5 inch, 1080p display, powered by a 3000mAh battery that supports "Pump Express" quick charging on USB 3.0, alongside Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
