1. A new record for solving a Rubik’s cube was set at 4.73 seconds. The old record was 4.74 seconds.

2. The record for open distance paragliding was smashed by three Brazilians “flying as a gaggle” for more than 11 hours covering more than 350 miles.

3. Joey Chestnut, the world’s top competitive eater, set a new record by eating 73.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

4. Two brothers won a grave-digging competition at a burial and cremation exhibition in Slovakia.

5. New York’s Metropolitan Opera was evacuated when a man sprinkled the cremated remains of his musical mentor into the orchestra pit.

6. At San Diego Zoo, a Tasmanian devil named Nick became only the second of his species to receive a pacemaker to make his heartbeat normal.
