Watching Porn Can Causes Erectile Dysfunction

Half of all men between 40 and 70 are expected to have it to some degree.

There is much discussion over the various causes of the condition - and some point to over stimulation, such as watching a lot of pornography.

There have been a number of medical research reports written about this subject in recent years.

“Is Internet Pornography Causing Sexual Dysfunctions?”, published in the Behavioral Sciences journal of psychology, examined a number of men who believed there was a link between their pornography habits and their sex lives.

One 24-year-old sailor spent five hours a day watching pornography. This was found to have eventually prevented him from sustaining erections with his wife - but not when watching porn.

The report concluded that sex problems that are directly linked to porn may be misdiagnosed as “performance anxiety”, one cause of erectile dysfunction - while there may be no problem having an erection watching porn.

Another report by Ivan Landripet PhD and Aleksandar Štulhofer PhD written in March 2015 found “little evidence of the association between pornography use and male sexual health disturbances."

It said: “Contrary to raising public concerns, pornography does not seem to be a significant risk factor for younger men's desire, erectile, or orgasmic difficulties.”

However, another report seemed to suggest pornography can actually have a positive effect on your ability to have an erection.

Written by Nicole Prause PhD and James Pfaus PhD the report said: “Erectile functioning with a partner appeared unrelated to the hours of VSS (visual sexual stimulation) being consumed in the average week.

They reported an increase in the amount men wanted to have both solitary sex and sex with a partner when they watch more pornography.

In fact, the study even went on to say: “The positive relationships between VSS viewing and many indices of sexual responsiveness suggest that VSS viewing might even improve erectile functioning.”

So, in short, if you are having problems with erectile dysfunction it is advisable to visit you GP before you alter your porn viewing habits.
