As the dark evenings drag on and the weather becomes increasingly dreary, it can be extremely tempting to head to hotter climates.

1. ThailandIf you're looking for sun, sea and sand, Thailand is the place to be in February. From the white shores of Phuket to the jungles of chiang mai, you can enjoy nine hours of unit erupted sunshine in the Southeast Asian country.
2. DubaiWith the tallest building in the world and some of the most luxurious hotels on the planet, Dubai has become a popular destination for sun-seekers in the past few year.
In the summer temperatures reach over 40°C, but February is a great time to visit with average temperatures of around 25°C.
3. GrenadaRolling jade-green hills tumble into powder-white beaches fringed with nutmeg trees, on the beautiful island of Grenada.
Known as the Spice Island, it's the ultimate relaxation destination and the calm crystal-clear Caribbean sea means it’s a haven for water-sports enthusiasts.
With more than 45 sandy beaches, Grenada is a dream-like holiday or honeymoon destination all year round. And it's a great spot to soak up some January sun.
4. QatarQatar has come onto most people’s radars thanks to its plan to host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, a decision which has stirred much controversy for many reasons.
Set to be the new Dubai, the country offers breathtaking luxury. In February the capital city of Doha is a pleasant 21°C.
5. MaldivesThe sugar-soft sand, coconut-palm-fringed beaches and impossibly clear waters, make the Maldives a dream destination.
The Indian Ocean’s most celebrated cluster of islands also boasts nine hours of sunshine in January.
6. AustraliaAustralia is a big country so temperatures differ depending where you're visiting, but Perth in Western Australia is a great destination for this time of year.
With average temperatures of 26°C and 10 hours of sunshine, it's a great destination for travellers looking for a hot holiday.
The city itself is bustling with lively bars and restaurants, while the outskirts of the city offer gems like Scarborough or Cottesloe Beach – a surfers paradise.
7. ChileSantiago, Chile’s capital and largest city, sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coast Range.
But despite the frosty surroundings, the city is a pleasant 20°C during the month of February.
If you fly the 14.5 hours to get there it's worth exploring the country a bit. The Atacama Desert is one of the best places to see the stars in the world thanks to its dry atmosphere and lofty location.
More adventurous travellers can also try their hand at sand boarding in the giant sand dunes.
8. Dominican RepublicIf you’re looking for a Caribbean escape with a strong Latin flavour, Dominican Republic is the place for you.
The paradise island offers powder-white beaches and vibrant towns, freckled with colourful rum shacks.
Temperatures in February are an average of 25⁰C, but can reach up to 30⁰C regularly.
9. MexicoMexico is one of the most popular destinations for Brits and with good reason. The country offers the perfect blend of beaches, history and culture and of course the food is off the chart.
Make sure you swim in the crystal clear waters of Tulum and visit the Mayan ruins Chichen Itza. Eating your bodyweight in tacos is also essential!
