Woman Born With Two Sets Of Reproductive Organs And Thought To Be Infertile Now Expecting Miracle Baby

Krista Schwab

Woman born with two sets of reproductive organs and told she would never conceive is now expecting a miracle baby, say reports.

Krista Schwab, 32, was diagnosed with uterus didelphys at age 12, which means she has two vaginas, two wombs and two cervixes that caused her to miscarry twice.

Doctors thought she would never get pregnant again because of the complications caused by her rare condition.

However, Krista is now five months pregnant and expecting a baby boy, which is growing in her left womb.

“After being diagnosed with uterine didelphys at 12 years old, I knew I had two uteruses and two cervixes. But when I was 30 I found out that I also have two vaginas that are side by side. I always felt the separate sections during intercourse and smear tests but I just thought that feeling was a normal thing every woman had,” said the horse trainer from Washington.

She said after suffering two miscarriages, both she and her husband Courtney, 33, gave up hope of having a child.

The couple, who had been trying to have a baby for a decade and were considering IVF, said they are overjoyed with their baby news.

“For so many years my husband and I cried, prayed and dreamed of having a child. We both had so many breakdowns because we wanted one so much,”she said.

While most women with uterine didelphys have to give birth via C-section, the 32-year-old said she still hopes to have a natural birth.

Uterus didelphys is a rare condition that affects around 0.3 percent of women. Although it is present at birth, many women with the condition may be asymptomatic and unaware of having a double uterus.

The exact cause of uterus didelphys is unknown although genetic factors have been linked. Women with the condition can have normal sex lives and pregnancies.
