Men: How To Prevent Yourself From This

wet bed

Thinking about sex doesn’t stop when you fall asleep and many men will be familiar with experiencing a “wet dream” or “nocturnal emission”.

It’s when a guy involuntarily ejaculates while he’s sleeping, often without realising and as a result of a sexy dream he’s having.

Guys don’t even need to touch themselves or masturbate during the steamy sleep session to orgasm.

Some lads will have frequent wet dreams, up to a few times a week, while others will only experience the odd night-time burst.

But according to a survey of American men, 83% of guys will ejaculate in their sleep at some point in their lifetime.

Wet dreams are completely natural and most common in teens going through puberty, but they can continue later into adulthood and it’s due to having high testosterone levels (rather than low-T).

If you do want to prevent sex dreams because you don’t enjoy waking up with a wet patch, here’s how to stop overnight orgasms.

1. Relax

It’s possible that feeling stressed out makes men experience more wet dreams, so make some time for yourself and chill out a bit.

Make sure you are sleeping enough, getting regular exercise and enjoying downtime away from work to feel more relaxed.

2. Sleep on your back

To avoid accidental stimulation during the night, sleep on your back and wear loose-fitting clothes.

3. Avoid pornography

Take your mind off dirty thoughts by avoiding sexual images and videos. Stay away from porn, naughty TV shows and naked pictures.

4. Develop a healthy relationship with sex and masturbation

If you’re in a relationship, be open and communicate with your partner about your feelings and wet dreams.

If you’re single, feel comfortable to masturbate as it will provide you a sexual release.

Researchers haven’t found a causal relationship between masturbating and wet dreams – many studies have been inconclusive.

But sex researcher Alfred Kinsey believes there may be "some correlation between the frequencies of masturbation and the frequencies of nocturnal emissions".

He said: “In general the males who have the highest frequencies of nocturnal emissions may have somewhat lower rates of masturbation”.
