Tips To Double Your Annual Leave

Annual Leave

In a perfect world, we would have as many holiday days as work days. Or, you know, no work days and life is just one big continuous holiday.

But it's not a perfect world and our daydreams of quitting our jobs to buy a yacht and sail to every corner of the planet need to be funded somehow.

That's not going to stop us from taking advantage of the bank holidays next year to have some micro adventures.

If you were planning a holiday for the spring of 2017, perhaps it's time to consider going away around Easter.

Thanks to the days the bank holidays fall next year, you will get 18 straight days off and you only need to book nine.

How does this work? Well, Good Friday is on April 14 and Easter Monday on April 17 followed by May Bank Holiday on May 1.

So, if you finish work on April 13 you can come back on May 2 and only use nine annual leave days.

This includes, three bank holidays, nine days during the working week and six weekend days.

These two and a half weeks beat the 17 days off we could have taken during the same period this year.

If Christmas travel is more your thing, you can get 10 consecutive days off over Christmas 2017 for just three days of holiday.

Christmas next year falls on a Monday and Tuesday is Boxing Day, the following Monday is New Year's Day.
